If you are a NON-Florida resident but hold a real estate license in one of the following 9 states: Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Mississippi, Nebraska, Rhode Island & West Virginia, you may apply for Mutual Recognition to obtain a Florida license.
Mutual Recognition requires passing a 40 question state exam focused on Real Estate law, instead of the standard 100 question exam. The exam is the same for salespersons or broker applicants. This applies to non-residents of Florida only.
There is no educational course required to meet the Florida Mutual recognition requirements. Optional Mutual Recognition Coursework is preparatory only and does not have any compulsory exam.
Once a Florida licensee, mutual recognition candidate licenses are identical to resident licenses in every respect. Licensees are required to complete all requisite post-licensing and continuing education.
Go to the DBPR Mutual Recognition Application for Non-Florida Residents Only page for more details.
